DAYS TURKANA TRUCK VIA LAKE BARINGO
DAY 1 NAIROBI-LAKE
BARINGO
Depart Nairobi in the morning stopping at the highest point
of Rift valley [21,140ft Above sea level] to view the great rift
valley. Lunch at Nakuru and arrive to Lake Baringo late afternoon.
Watch out for hippo while you swim. Overnight at the campsite.
DAY 2 BARINGO-SOUTH
HORR
We climb out of the rift valley in the morning chill towards
Maralal and the red –ochred Samburu people .Still nomadic
and proud. Then another spectacular climb up Losiolo and down past
Baragoi to South Horr where we camp next to a small clear stream.
DAY 3 SOUTH HORR-LOIYANGALANI
Break tents early in the morning and depart for Lake Turkana
.The rough road gets worse as we descend across ancient lava flows
towards the jade sea and the oasis Loiyangalani lying between the
Lake and Mt. Kulal .We arrive at our permanent beach campsite just
outside Loiyangalani soon after lunch and settle in our traditional
Turkana huts with a cool breeze blowing from the Lake. Indeed a
perfect place to relax protected from the scorching sun and heat
characteristic of the harsh climate of this remote area.
DAY 4 LOIYANGALANI
We spend the day relaxing and bathing only interrupted by
a short boat excursion to visit the surrounding areas where crocodiles
and birds may be spotted. In addition we visit Loiyangalani and
the community settled there while in the evening we may visit one
of the Turkana manyattas for traditional dances under star studded
sky at an extra cost. Dinner and overnight at the camp or lodge.
DAY 5LOIYANGALANI-MARALAL
After breakfast leave Turkana for maralal.Lunch enroute.Dinner
and overnight at Maralal in camp or lodge.
DAY 6 MARALAL-SAMBURU
After breakfast leave Maralal for Samburu Game reserve .On
arrival proceed to the campsite/Lodge and thereafter proceed for
a late evening game drive. Return to camp/Lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7 SAMBURU
Early morning game drive. Return to the camp/Lodge for lunch
at 1.00pm.Further game drive from 4.00pm up to 6.00pm.Dinner and
overnight at the camp /lodge.
DAY 8 SAMBURU-NAIROBI
After breakfast leave Samburu for Nanyuki or karatina for lunch.
Drop off clients who want to stay behind to climb Mt. Kenya. After
lunch leave for Nairobi.

Please note that you are required to carry alot of water for this
trip.
8 DAYS LAKE TURKANA VIA CHALBI DESERT
DAY 1 NAIROBI-SAMBURU
Depart Nairobi in the morning heading north via the shoulder
of Mt Kenya to Samburu Game Reserve.Accomodation in our semi permanent
campsite beautifully set under a canopy of trees on the edge of
Uaso Nyiro river.
DAY 2 SAMBURU
The day is spent game viewing in the park. Elephants abound;
you may see lions reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, grevy’s zebra
and Oryx.
DAY 3SAMBURU-MARSABIT
We head north again along the trans-African highway to Marsabit,
which is an extinct volcano heavily forested on its upper slopes.
After setting up camp ,we visit the lodge inside the National park
.You may see elephant, buffalo and kudu as the lodge is situated
on the edge of a water –filled crater. As long as the park
is dry we drive through thick forest to the famous Lake Paradise.
There are some very steep hills which are impassible if wet.
DAY 4 MARSABIT-KALACHA
We visit Marsabit town and another volcanic crater before
making our way back into the desert and lava flows. We camp at Kalacha,
a small settlement on the edge of the chalbi desert.
DAY 5 KALACHA-LOIYANGALANI
We depart crossing the chalbi desert .The desert cannot be
crossed if wet but there are alternative roads around the North
and south. We arrive at our semi-permanent beach campsite just outside
loiyangalani soon after lunch. Here we have our traditional Turkana
huts with a cool breeze blowing from the lake for use if available
otherwise we pitch tents in an alternative campsite. Indeed a perfect
place to relax protected from the scorching sun and heat characteristic
of the harsh climate of this remote area.
DAY 6 LOIYANGALANI
We spend the day relaxing and bathing only to be interrupted
by a short boat excursion to visit the surrounding areas. In addition,
we visit Loiyangalani and the community settled there while in the
evening we may visit one of the Turkana manyattas (optional) for
traditional dances under a star studded sky at an extra cost if
clients wish. Unforgettable experience.
DAY 7 LOIYANGALANI-MARALAL
We journey via south Horr and Baragoi to Maralal, another
forested area. The Samburu abound in their red-ochre.
DAY 8 MARALAL-NAIROBI
Heading south again via Laikipia Plains and Thompson Falls
(Nyahururu)we drive back into Nairobi by mid-afternoon.
